An Open Air Fire Ban was extended today to all of Huron County.

The Fire Chiefs of Huron County have jointly declared a fire ban because of the lack of significant rainfall and the forecast of more hot dry conditions ahead.

All open air fires are prohibited in Huron County, including those properties that have an Open Air Fire Permit.   This ban applies to agricultural burns, brush pile burns, recreational fires, burn barrels, outdoor fireplaces and chimineas,  or any other fires set in the open.

The only exceptions to this ban are cooking fires in approved campgrounds. Cooking fires are permitted on campsites from noon to midnight only.   After midnight, all fires must be completely extinguished.
