Navigating the Shoreline Management Plan Draft

posted in: News | 0
This draft document, as well as the accompanying Draft Hazard Maps found in Appendix C, can be downloaded from the ABCA website: www.abca.on.ca
First, it is important to determine whether your shoreline property is in Lakeshore Area 1 or Lakeshore Area 2.  The set of 31 Hazard Maps (Appendix C) covers the shoreline within the ABCA watershed – from Tower Line Road north of Bayfield south to Kettle Point. Find the map that includes your property.
On the maps, a red line denotes the Top of Bluff, a feature of the shoreline north of Grand Bend.  A purple line denotes the eastern limit of Lakeshore Area 1 and the yellow line determines the 100 year erosion line as well as the eastern limit of Lakeshore Area 2
The changes you may or may not be able to make to your cottage/home are outlined in the Consultant Recommended Shoreline Development Guidelines that are found on pp. 113 to 117 in the draft document. Do not overlook the footnotes.
